To mark Independents’ Day Conor McGinn MP visited local businesses in the constituency.
Independents’ Day was launched in 2010 by People1st and celebrates the crucial economic and social contribution independent businesses make to communities. The aim is to make support for independent businesses a more permanent fixture and encourage people to shop at local businesses.
Conor called in at number of business including:\n
- Chouxchouxbedoos – a family run coffee shop & cafЬЉ on Newton High Street
- Cooks of Rainford – a butchers which has served the local community for over 80 years
- A180 Darts лв a darts supplier based in Moss Bank, who supply some of the biggest names in darts and work to promote the next generation of darts players at St Helens Darts Academy

“Independents’ Day is a great opportunity highlight the importance of small business to our community and encourage people to support local businesses.
“The businesses I met are just a few examples of the many small and medium size enterprises based in St Helens North, which are so important to our community.
“These businesses contribute hugely to local economy by creating employment and making a huge contribution to the life of our local communities.”
