The Glass Futures project, which will be home to Global Centre of Excellence of Glass for R&D, Innovation and Training, here in St Helens. This ground-breaking scheme is part of St Helens Council’s Town Improvement Plan. We will be the first in the world to decarbonise glass production, continuing our legacy of world class glass. St Helens will always be the home and heart of glass and I am excited to see the development of this new facility come to fruition; where we can continue work on innovating the glass sector. This project is key to the future of glass making and it is a massively important project, not only for our borough or the region, but for the future of the planet. Glass Futures will help maintain our prominence and give the borough a significant role in tackling the climate emergency globally.
