I’ve signed this joint letter from Merseyside MPs to Liverpool FC’s owners on behalf of the huge number of supporters in St Helens who’ve been in touch about the disgraceful plans for a European Super League.

Many local United and City fans have contacted me too, expressing the same views.

As a Spurs supporter who worked as a steward at White Hart Lane and had a season ticket for many years, I very much feel the same way about my own club’s involvement.

I hope the six owners pull back from the brink for the sake of their clubs, fans and football itself.
