On Carers Rights Day, we stand with and give thanks to the 6.5 million people in the UK – including thousands in St Helens North – who selflessly provide care and support to others.

Even before the pandemic, providing unpaid care for a family member or friend presented huge pressures – whether on accessing key services, financial help or essential support. It’s never been more important for carers to get that necessary support, advice and information, and to fully know their rights.

I know many local charities and community groups are doing brilliant work to help local carers and those they care for. Carers UK have also put together this useful pack of resources for carers seeking guidance on a whole host of important issues.
