It is sad and shocking news that St Helens Chamber has gone in to administration. My immediate thoughts are with hardworking staff who have been made redundant. I have been assured that every effort will be made to support them and help them find new roles, but this is a terrible blow for those workers and their families.
The Chamber was an important institution in the town and the borough, and their statement makes clear just how difficult the financial and funding environment became for them, as it has become for many organisations.
I am seeking an early meeting with the British Chambers of Commerce to look at how we can work together with the Council and other local partners to find a way to continue supporting and promoting businesses in St Helens.
